Sensible Weather warms up with $12M round, plots expansion of travel guarantee tools

Climate technology start-up Reasonable weather secured another major investment of $12 million, just five months after a previous round.

Series A is led by Infinity Ventures, with participation from Certares Ventures and previous backers Wonder Ventures and Group1001.

Sensible Weather’s first product offering is a partner-branded weather warranty service, which automatically reimburses travelers when bad weather affects their travel experience. The company won’t disclose its travel partners at this time, but says they include activity companies, accommodation partners and ski resorts.

The latest round of funding, bringing its total raised so far to more than $20 million, will be used to help with hiring, expanding its climate data platform and launching into new markets outside of the states. -United.

The company says that since the start of 2022 (shortly after its $4 million funding round), it has sold “thousands” of its weather guarantees through partners in the hospitality and activity industry.

Founder and CEO Nick Cavanaugh said, “We are doubling down on our investment in this new integrated fintech service to accelerate our goals of generating ancillary revenue for partners and improving the experience for travelers.
